Welcome Voices is an experiential social art project by Charlotte-based artist Tara Spil, created for Charlotte SHOUT 2026. 157 people move to the Queen City each day and the goal for the project is to celebrate new neighbors, connect them to their new community, and create a visual reference for 157.

How it works:

January 9 - March 9 2026, Spil will be collect stories and information from 157 people who are new to Charlotte through this website. Newcomers will answer questions like where they moved from and what they hope to accomplish here.

Responses will be compiled and presented through an interactive sculpture at Charlotte SHOUT April 3 - 19, 2026. Identifying information is not required to participate - anonymity will be respected and upheld.
